In From the Holler to the Sea, more than 30 authors and artists from Western North Carolina, Southern Appalachia, and beyond, share intimate stories and images recounting their experiences from the days and weeks after Hurricane Helene. Across 300 powerful pages, this anthology weaves grief, resilience, and hope into a living record of one of the region’s most devastating storms.

Born from an early-spring zine and an online collection published in partnership with Dandelion Scribes, this first full-length edition expands the project into a sweeping portrait of community solidarity and survival. The title takes inspiration from a revolutionary battle cry by T & chels of Rednecks Rising: a call to solidarity “from the holler to the sea,” recognizing how struggles for justice — from Appalachia to Palestine — are deeply interconnected in an age of climate catastrophe, resource exploitation, imperialism & genocide.

From the Holler to the Sea offers a blueprint of survival for those who will be affected by catastrophe in the era that is upon us. The contents of its pages are a testament to the abundance that is possible when we reconnect with ourselves, each other, the land, and our unshakable desire to bring healing and liberation to our Earthly home.
